Savory Herb Butters
We have been in the test kitchen working on savory herb butters. We generally use unsalted butter at home. When making these butters you can start with a base of unsalted and add a pinch of sea salt, or start with salted butter if you prefer.
There are endless uses for these flavored butters. Store them in an air tight container in the fridge for up to two weeks, or roll them into a log and slice them into pats. These can then be frozen and taken out when you are ready to use them.
These delicious butters can be used as a base flavor, or added as the end of cooking for a touch of flavor and richness. Use them on bagels, baked potatoes, in mashed potatoes, over chicken or steak off the grill, over pasta, or under chicken skin to get the most delicious crispy baked chicken.
Here are some of our favorite combinations:
For more hydrated herbs, add them to 1 Tbsp of hot water, letting them sit for a minute or two, before adding to the butter.
